The fifth session of the community cervical cancer screening by visual inspection with acetic acid [VIA] was carried out at Ansar-ud-deen central mosque at 10 Ige Street Alimosho on 20th November 2010. It was conducted by four medical doctors and three nurses under the aegis of MRH Research Collective and NURTURE Health Services and Solution.
The women were given a health talk by Matron Magaret and Dr. Habeeb, as it relates to general and reproductive health issues. There was an interactive Question and Answer session, where various reproductive health-related questions were discussed.
The screeningby VIA was carried out on 36 community women. 35 women were adjudged VIA negative and counselled on repeat screening in 3 years. One woman adjudged VIA positive and other women with other pathologies were referred to health facilities for further treatment and follow up. Their contact details-addresses and phone numbers, were recorded for future follow-up as necessary.
The session was concluded at 12:20pm
